Pay My Balance Due
If you choose not to pay your tax balance by direct debit on your tax return, you can pay:
By check in the mail.
By direct debit.
By credit card (there is an additional fee for this).
Set up an installment plan with the IRS.
Be sure to make your payment on time. Either have the check in the mail on or before the due date (best practice, mail it a week before the due date to avoid any question), or make the payment online prior to midnight on the date due (best practice, do it as early in the day as possible to avoid any issues completing the payment).
Make note of when the payment was mailed, or print the receipt from the payment site in case of any questions.
